I've worked on a project where we made a backup of the 2003 farm, upgraded it
to 2007 and then used the backup/export tools to migrate the sites across to
the production 2007 farm. Requires another SharePoint farm, and time and
effort to upgrade however.

Hi Ken,

It really comes down to how much content you need to migrate and if you need to
keep the version history, created by and date, custom columns with lookup
information etc of your documents.

If you do require that information, you should look at a tool as mentioned, we
have used the DocAve tool several times and it works very well, it was also one
of the most price competitive options we looked.

If you just need to get the documents across without all the metadata, then a
custom tool/powershell option might be the way to go. A lot of it all comes
down to time as well, if you have the time to DIY it, then it's an option,
however, if you don't then an off the shelf product can definitely help.

cheers

Aaron

Tool has a name "PowerShell + WebDav". You will be surprised how powerful it is
;)

Actually try those

Subject: Move SharePoint 2003 Document Lists to Moss 2007

Hi All:

I have a Sharepoint 2003 site which contains a few hundreds of document
lists. Now I need to copy them across to a SharePoint 2007 site (Still need to
be doucment lists). Just wonder is there any community tool or code to do that
easily?

Cheers

Ken
