Ok here lies a problem. When we first deployed our Portal we did away with all the 'Standard' SharePoint Groups and created our own SharePoint Groups which have nested AD groups in them.
So in reality for our Level 0,1,2 sites which are the only ones which have been created thus far we do not have any Members, Owners, Viewer Groups. I have just created a whole set of my own groups and given them specific permissions to each site eg Full Control, Contribute etc etc. As Users start to create their own sites we are going with the Member, Owners Viewers groups but for what has been created so far these don't exist. Questions When SharePoint Assigns the Members, Owners , Viewer groups by default when creating the Top Level site, are there underlying features which come with this other than just permissions? Is my configuration bad practice? It seemed logical to do it like this but if I am wrong let me know as our Portal is about to be deployed into the wild so I want to know if I am going to get into any dramas along the way. I hope this makes sense. Some users have the option available when they are publishing to a site/Library from Office and others only have 'My Network Places'. What is the prerequisites for the users to have this feature? They are all using Office 2007. Do they need to have a my site setup? I have done a full profile import which looks to has been successful. Any ideas? Any Ideas?
