Yeah but you won't like 'em. :) I'm wondering if there's a particular permission level that would get rid of the bug when applied at the list level. Something a little short of Contributor.
Failing that just make him a Contributor to the library and remind him to only edit the page in question. Any accidental or malicious damage can be restored if versioning and/or approval are enabled. Yes, it is a publishing pages library. Just tried it and I was able to modify the page successfully as you suggested below. Problem is (and given your email you'll probably sympathise) the person editing the page is a student at a school so I was hoping they could get to edit mode via the Edit Page method as it's simpler (particularly when it comes to editing web parts on the page). Got any other suggestions? Cheers, Iain On 18 November 2010 15:18, Paul Noone <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: Just did a search and am assuming that it is. Have you tried modifying the page by checking it out and using the Edit Properties screen instead? I have a site with a pages list. I have set up a user to have Contribute access to a specific page so that they can edit the page. They only have Read access to the pages list so that they cannot edit any other pages. The user sees the Site Actions button on that one page only, and can select Edit Page. However they are then put into shared edit view with a message on the page saying "You are editing the shared version of this page". There's no check in or publish buttons and when they click on Exit Edit Mode their changes are not saved. Anyone know how I fix this?
