The 2010 Team Explorer will not run in VS 2005/2008 you need an updated Team Explorer for those clients. The "launch" data for the Visual Studio 2010 and TFS 2010 release has been announced for March 22, 2010. I'd agree with everyone... I'd just upgrade from 2005 to 2010 if you can.
