Thanks for the info, I have checked to make sure that the FollowSymLinks option 
is enabled (it is) and the only thing in my error-log is this:

client denied by server configuration: /usr/local/pf/cgi-bin/redir.cgi

not exactly the most descriptive error message : )

im gonna keep looking into it though...

logs/error_log should provide some more information.

If something on the way to /usr/local/pf/cgi-bin/ is a symbolic link then you 
need a Options FollowSymlinks in your apache config (and read about the 
security implications of this change). We do that in dev.
