Hello all,
so, I just set up Pf under Debian Squeeze, and successfully went through the
setup process.
As for the network setup, I selected eth0 to have action 'none' (this was
preselected, and I figured it would be best to leave this in tact as eth0 is
the WAN port). Also, I chose eth1 and eth2 to be used for 'Inline', and
designated eth3 for 'management'.
Now, after the setup was completed, my browser tried to open a website located
at 10.0.0.3:1443. 10.0.0.3 is the IP address I assigned to the management
interface. Since at this time there was no physical connection to that
interface, I hooked up my computer to eth3, and notized that I wasn't assigned
an IP from DHCPd. So, I configured network settings manually on my machine, and
then once again tried accessing 10.0.0.3:1443, however without any luck -
pinging that IP also failed.
I then connected to one of the inline interfaces, and was able to get an IP and
connect to the registration interface successfully. So, I guess something went
wrong when setting up the management interface, or maybe I'm doing something
wrong.
Now, at this time I have no clue how the Pf setup works internally in order to
set up these things, so I really don't know where I start checking. And before
I start messing with something, I just wanted to ask for some advice on here so
that I can keep working on the setup and explore things. So, any suggestions?
Thanks a lot - any pointers / hints greatly appreciated! :-)
Robin
