This is how far I can get. perlapi-5.12.4 is a complete unknown.libdigest-sha1-perl in debian is not available in ubuntu 12.04 (was in 8.04, 10.04, 11.10 no longer since 12.04). Would libdigest-sha-perl be a possible replacement? Some of the other packages seem to be version problems.

Fabrice,

Tried with the new VM and same results. The 'official' way of getting
the key still does not work at the time of this mail.

Still stuck with 4 unmet dependencies.
Hope you can help,

Dominique

Fabrice,

Tried that on the current Ubuntu 12 VM. Same results regarding
dependencies. I may have screwed up the system while trying to install
other missing pieces. I am building a new VM from scratch and I'll let
you know tomorrow.

My install is as follow:
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Linux ubu-pf 3.2.0-34-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Thu Nov 15 10:48:16 UTC
2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Since you mentioned you successfully installed on Ubuntu, did you have
any other specifics installed or was it done on a clean Ubuntu install?
Did you have other sources activated apart from the one coming by
default? Was it a 64 or 32 bit install ?

Hi Fabrice,

I just installed a fresh Ubuntu 12 on a new VM for testing purposes, and
used the debian repository as described on the PF web page. I did have a
problem with the server key though (keys.gnupg.net) and tryed an
alternate way to get the key (gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com
--recv 810273C4). That might be the source of the problem. However it
did not create problem on my Debian test VM.

While waiting for some feedback from the list, I tried to install those
missing libraries after downloading them directly from the PF web. Still
fighting to install those, as they also have unmet dependencies...

Have you tried to use the PacketFence´s debian repository ?

Hi,

I know PF is not officially supported on Ubuntu at this time. But having
Debian sources usually opens that door. I tried to install several
months ago but dependencies problems made it impossible to get any
simple success (relatively speaking of course).

With PF 3.6 I thought to give it another try. Although previous
dependencies problems seem to have disappeared, it seems a new set has
showed up:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
packetfence : Depends: libiptables-libiptc-perl but it is not going to
be installed
Depends: libauthen-htpasswd-perl but it is not going to
be installed
                        Depends: libcatalyst-authentication-store-htpasswd-perl
but it is not going to be installed
                        Depends: libcatalyst-engine-http-prefork-perl but it is
not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

I went looking on the net for those libraries and found them on the
packetfence server.... Could they not be packaged to be installed when
missing on Ubuntu setups?

I'll keep trying to install on Ubuntu 12.04. It's here for 5 years after
all.
