p.p.s., last work (I think :), I asked our Linux admin why the interfaces would 
be disappearing to Packetfence's Configurator, here is the reply:

"Puppet is managing the sudoers file and Packetfence changed the list of 
commands that they need access to it. I have fixed the list in Puppet so it 
should always work now."

The interfaces were present when I just looked.
