What makes it tough is that I am an unofficial ISP. I have several thousand devices all D'NATed to that IP, and what's more, is that 2/3 of those devices are owned by students and are therefore are not managed by me.
I almost want to leave it, I have wanted to shut down SMTP from my public NAT for a long time but each time I do, some users throw a fit because they have software that wants to act as a SMTP server ... BUT ... this way, it still doesn't work ... and, I can say I didn't do it. Is that bad? If I'm correct, your outbound mail queues will quickly reveal the offending user account.
