Hi Oren, In fact I'm already using a VM ubuntu image for Padre. I think it is a good pragmatic choice because it's very widespread and still free. I think they should be one reference VM image, and others can contribute their own if they want and think they can release one new at each release.
Of course it would not be intended as a replacement for local installation for those that have the skills or the willingness, but a straightforward way to dig quickly into development.
