No, it was not you.

This seems to be an issue with the version of xgettext that generates
the messages.pot file.
The actual issue was noticed and reported here:
http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/1132

I have xgettext 0.18.1 on Ununtu 10.10 and that seems to be causing the issue.
Zeno has 0.17 on Ubuntu 10.4

The older version seems to work better.
