An alternative is AvantGo (http://www.avantgo.com).

It is not a true "browser" in the connected sense,
it is an "offline browser". You point it at a URL,
hotsync, then you can "browse" on your Pilot while
you're waiting in line at the grocery store.

The downside: everything you want to browse has
to be downloaded at hotsync time, resulting in
long hotsyncs and lots of memory used.

AvantGo has some publishers that have set up
"channels" -- web content that has been formatted
for use with PDAs using AvantGo. I particularly
like the Wired News. I download it once in the
morning and have reading material for my spare
moments for the rest of the day.

Again: not true browsing, but useful nonetheless.
