Dang! I wish we'd thought of that. What an amazingly good idea -- testing
our desktop software with our devices. :)
Sarcasm aside, the Mac Pac was very definitely tested in house, and also
went through a several month long public beta period. While I'm not on the
Mac Pac team, I did follow the beta program pretty closely. Yours is the
first report I've heard of a problem like this.
Anyway, the symptoms you describe don't sound much like they're a Mac Pac
problem. The reset-after-sync thing is reasonably common when installing
new applications or system updates. It just provides a way to get the
device into a known state. Not that it could't necessarily be a Mac Pac
issue, but it just seems unlikely.
It's more likely the result of some app or other software for the Palm.
The only time I've seen reset loops is when some app crashes in response to
the reset launch code. A cold reset (erasing everything) should always fix
that -- no apps left to cause problems! Of course, if HotSync then
restores the buggy app you'll be back in the same boat.
If you're getting into a reset loop after a hard (erase) reset without
hotsyncing, then it's not related to any app on the desktop or on the
device. Possibly your ROM has gotten corrupted somehow, though I've never
heard of of that happening on it's own. (Have you messed with any of the
FLASH editing apps?)
At this point, calling our customer support number would be the right thing
to do. They can help you get you device restored to working order or
replaced.

A Q&A isn't really appropriate for something like this--if we knew about a
major data loss problem like this, we wouldn't just write a Q&A on it, we'd
fix it!! :)
