The i390 supports "circuit data" which means it acts like an analog
modem to your computing device.  There is a little bit more than that
going on between the phone and the network, but it is transparent to the
device.

The i1000plus is the new model which supports "packet data".  Basically,
your device makes a ppp connection to the phone, the phone gets a mobile
ip address, and presto, you have internet access.
