We're inclined to go with the periodic code rearranging system, so that
byte-offset hacks will only be effective for a short time. That works for
warez sites that just link to the author's download page, but not (of
course) if a warez site pops up with pre-cracked versions of software.
That's pretty much Game Over, isn't it, unless you go into seriously loopy
code such as the stuff Aaron is suggesting?
As this is a group with readers at Palm, can anyone think of OS support that
could be provided for authors to stop hacking? OS support for digitally
signed/encrypted apps? Hey, that sounds cool. Since OS 3.3 is nearly upon
us, maybe it's a maybe for OS 3.4...
