you're too kind. Maybe I'm expressing myself poorly.
My point is that people will start seeing these screens here and there...
coming from different developers & off of different sites. Not everybody
gets ALL their software from hackers. The idea is to change the perception
of the market at large over time. Get people to start distrusting "alley
way" sites. Give them a reason to start thinking that maybe they should
WANT to get their software from the source. And do it in a way that
seems/sounds benevolent.
I don't mean to suggest that hackers would never remove the screen or
consumers will flock to jesus overnight. Neither am I suggesting this as a
method for a single developer or a single company to use to keep a single
app safe. Of course not. It would have to be an effort made in concert by
many developers to "raise market awareness" of potentially dangerous copies
of your software out there.
Is it lying.... eh... maybe
Is it unethical... possibly borderline but I vote no.
Does it negatively impact anybody in the long run? certainly not.
Is it the one true solution? I hope not... I'm smart but I'm not a
marketing genius.
But I do think its better than sitting around saying nothing can be done
about all those crackers.
