Profit is more than just $$$.  One's time is worth something. Also, 
most of the crackers that break these codes don't just give the info 
away.  

A simple code that just takes an extreme amount of time to crack is 
not as appealing to a 'high tech' code that takes an extreme amount 
of time.

Anyone who trys to defeat these people using 'high tech' code is 
surely going to attract them.
