Well I have tested several programs for just this situation,
even programs that I have already registered.

I have one that says, for instance, 21 days left.  I removed
it; removed the DBs; made sure it's preference info (from 
saved and unsaved preferences)was removed; removed all backup
copies from my PC.  I reinstalled it fresh and it still
said 21 days left (out of 30).  

Now how is this possible if it did not hide some other data 
somewhere?
