is as good a starting place as any.  The data sheet (book) says
that only 2-bit grayscale is possible but some of the values that
can be set indicate that 4-bit grayscale is possible (as we all
know).  Specifically, see section 12-LCD Controller and p.150 for
info on the LCD panel interface configuration (LPICF) register.

   Of course, always check that you're working with an EZ328
before doing anything.  (Has a reliable method of detecting
the EZ ever been posted?)

   Bobby Kolev indicated that they are creating a grayscale
library, but I don't know if anything ever came of this and
if it'll support 4-bit grayscale.  (Thread is "Best way to
Double-buffer a Screen?")
