That is such a great idea!  I wish I had such useful/reliable software on my
desktop machines.  It would also make a great TV set-top thingy.

Here is something cool though; by using the debug mode you can control a
cradled unit via the PC and it works kinda like a PC Anywhere.  I always
thought it would be a neat thing to just sit down at a desktop, cradle your
pilot, and be able to work on it realtime.  The software I was using to do
this was on Linux called pilot-debug and using the getdisplay command; very
cool.

Doing this probably doesn't require any emulation at all, I think they just
use a debug command to relay the user-interface commands back and forth. 
Check the pilot-link package for the source to pilot-debug.
