I had the same problem.
I suspect it happens due to OS changes in localized Palms, like Hebrew
installetion
which makes a checksum error when you try to use it..
Try to use the genuine ROM from Palm site or you can use several ROMS which
you can find on the CD supplied with Glenn Bachmann book: Palm Programming.
