Hmmm, that is wierd. I'll have to look at this some more.
Anyway, Mac OS PICT images have several ways of storing their data. While a
PICT often has a bitmap stored in it, it can also contain a series of
opcodes that describe how to draw the image without using bitmaps. This is
what allows PICTs to be drawn properly on devices with different resolutions
(e.g. displays, printers, linos, etc.). One of these opcodes is called
direct bits and it is a bitmap representation that is different from the
ones we found in the R3, R4, and R5 images we tested. Constructor did not
generate direct bits to our knowledge, so we didn't include it initially.
