Probably your device is still in 1-bpp mode. You can't draw a 2-bpp bitmap
unless the screen is also in (at least) 2-bpp mode.
Go to the palm website (www.palm.com), click on the 'devzone' link, click
on the 'knowledge base' link, and type "Seeing Gray" (or maybe it's "Grey")
into the search window. Hit search. Read the resulting article -- it will
answer all your questions.
