WOW, I got a LOT of responses when asking for help with my Emergency task. I
was amazed at the close-knit group ya'll have formed in support of the Palm,
and the level of expertise you have acquired. It is my first venture into
Palm computing and I had no idea how popular, or powerful, this little tool
can be... and it seems you folks have taken it to a new level of power
and functionality! Way to go.
As for my responses, the only one I acted on was a note from Steve Patt,
President of Stevens Creek Software, who told me they had a
$79.95 piece of software called On Hand that does Exactly what I wanted.
YAHOO -- it's not elegant, but it saved my fanny! By the
way, it was very interesting all the different responses I got, ranging from
ridicule for trying to implement new functionality in
only 1 day, to a quote for $3,000 and 2-3 weeks of programming. Others
offered good, sound advice, that I very much appreciated
(esp. Kevin, Landon, Ray and Shannon).
I have purchased and installed the On Hand software (which works great!), but
I still could use some help on 3 fronts.
1) I'd like the Symbol 1500 to automatically start up running On Hand, rather
than the menu.
2) When I do a HotSynch, I'd like that to automatically Clear the records
remaining in On Hand
3) The customer is concerned about the units getting stolen. To make them a
little less enticing, he'd like all the "other"
software "hidden" or otherwise inaccessible.
Any advice on any of these? I've been told to get Satellite Forms, I tried
the demo and I think I could handle all these with this
powerful software. However, my requests are fairly simple, so I'd like to
avoid the $495 charge, if possible.
Thanks again.
