Matt,
Have you considered using a Symbol (Version of the Palm with a barcode
scanner attached). I have a friend who has a customer using large numbers
of them in an order entry situation.
I would be sure Symbol would provide a demo program that scans barcodes,
records the details in a file which you could then hotsync to the PC. If
not, I could write a program that picked up the file and transferred to a PC
using the PC's Terminal program (I have already done that for memos to the
PC)
So, in summary, I think Symbols (1500 ?) may be able to solve your problem
without the need for software - just scan the labels sequentially and then
send to the PC
