By poking the DragonBall registers directly, very carefully timing and encoding the
bit stream to achieve an acceptably close approximation of the correct IR waveform.
It's far from trivial... rather impressive, actually.
The KnowledgeBase article (as all others) refers to the support provided by the Palm
OS for such an application, which is none. The same can be said for any software that
bypasses the OS and speaks directly to the hardware.
