I'm not acquiring anything from John Marshall, rather than I'm picking up the
work dropped by Jeff Dionne and Kresten Krab Thorup completely indepedent from
John. When I started this I wasn't aware of John Marshall's existence. Then
when I learned about him and his work, I was very disappointed with it and
decided to keep doing what I was doing before: maintaining my own version that
follows prc-tools-0.5.0. Currently there is one fly in the ointment in that I'm
using John's binutils and gcc as a stopgap measure to have something out that's
better than nothing. My new ELF toolchain is going to remedy it. It will also
be a contribution not only to the PalmOS community, but to the UNIX/GNU tool
community in general, as I plan to implement linker relaxation not just for
PalmOS, but for m68k ELF in general.

All my comments are based solely on technical grounds. I have no personal
stakes here. As a matter of fact, I have no personal interest in PalmOS or GNU
software at all, I'm just doing my "day job", and my personal interests are
light years away.

Let's get this company thing out of the way first. GNU software is based on
individuals, not companies. Individuals are identified in the official FSF
change log entries, and these individuals bear responsibility to the world free
software community for the quality of their work. By getting involved in the
GNU Project one must accept the responsibility that goes with it and must be
ready to be judged based on the quality of his/her work, not his/her company
affiliation.

John Marshall developed his hacks before he joined Palm and they are identified
in the GNU change logs as <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. All my comments about those
hacks are in that capacity.
