Thats exactly what that chart indicates. The only difference is they now
call it Vcc. The resistor is in series to effectively limit the outgoing
current (and help limit power to the hotsync buttons). You can 'steal' some
power from it but just keep in mind that this pin always has 3.3v applied
and if your device leaks power, you can kill the Palm's batteries and
destroy anything in RAM. I would suggest using the serial control lines to
steal power. Power is available via the DTR line only when the serial port
is open. This would help prevent any unintended power consumption. If your
device uses a small amount of current, this could work. Otherwise you will
need an external power source. The modem case with 2 AAA batteries and a
3.3v regulator tied to DTR(to turn on your circuit) might then be a good
choice.
