Actually it shouldn't matter what context the information given here is used
for. Michael is right, if I did work for the government I wouldn't have
bothered with a place like this, I would have just gone straight to 3Com or
Motorola, both of whom I'm sure know exactly how to do this for the right
price, as Tom pointed out in another message thread (and which is more than
I have to work with.) I am interested in the technical challenge of
figuring this out, and, being a common trait amongst programmers, I figured
perhaps someone else would want to give it a try. Incidentally it would
greatly speed up the process of training myself in this new environment.
And, I suppose the government does play a small cameo in all of this.
Actually I'm trying to beat the clock on the government here. We have until
the end of the week to get an image of this Palm Pilot before they come and
get it and start their own forensics work on it. (This is why we need a
perfect image of all allocated and deallocated memory without actually
changing anything.) If we have a complete image we can dispute their
methods of data recovery and/or know if they try to change any of the data
on the palm intentionally or accidentally. But if we don't get the image
then all the judge will have to go by is what the government tells them.
I'm with the good guys here. Anyways, gotta get back to my studies, the
clock is ticking. If anyone is still interested in trying to crack this egg
