Here's what I'd do:

Get PalmDebugger (part of the 3.5 SDK) for either Mac or Windows.

Put the Palm handheld in a serial cradle.

Open the Find dialog on the Palm.

Using Graffiti, input shortcut-tap-tap-1 (shortcut character is a lower-case
cursive l, two taps gives a single period, and then the number 1). The
shortcut char will display as you type it, then the period, and then the 1
will briefly display before all three characters are erased).

Run PalmDebugger, and specify the proper serial port.

In the Debugger window, type "att" to connect to the handheld.

At this point, the low-level debugger is connected to the palm handheld.
You can now issue the DM (display memory) command:

For example:

dm 0 2000

will display the first 2000 bytes of the device.

When you're finished, you'll probably need to reset the device, since the
serial port will be open and draining the battery.
