Or to take a hint from Apple, there is a nice PowerPC embedded core
(And CodeWarrior already supports them).  RISC + Floating point.

But there are already much faster 68K family processors - the
Dragonball VZ for one but I would prefer a CPU32 or even a 68010 core
or some fast DMA or bitblt hardware.  More instructions in fewer
cycles and no bus accesses in tight loops (the pipeline acts as a
small cache).

Or better yet, most of the things you want a faster processor for are
DSP type things.  Put an external DSP with powerdown mode, and you get
MP3, some graphics, music, etc. while leaving the basic architecture
alone.

Or is your VGA card fast enough since the main CPU runs at 1GHz so you
don't need an accellerator?
