A while back, I read somewhere in a Linux FAQ for some guys site that he
would not answer anyone's question if the answer could be found out if you
spent just 15 minutes looking it up.  After I became the Linux guru in my
circle, I started to adopt this philosphy on my own....I told people that I
would only help out after they had spent 15 minutes looking it up and were
still vexed.  My life became easier.  It was very hard to keep this policy,
because I felt like a dickhead sometimes....especially when a good friend
would ask for help.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't at least point that person to the proper references, 
especially if they're having trouble locating some obscure fact.
