The Nokia 6185 does not have an IR port.  What appears to be an IR port, is
just a blank cover.  It seems that they used the same phone body, but
dropped the IR hardware on dual-mode US models, so that they could include
the AMPS analog hardware

However, it does have a built in modem.  If you have a DLR-3 cable, it
functions like a external wireless modem - responding to 'AT' commands.
