Check your Serial port settings under HotSync->Setup under the local tab,
and make sure the correct Serial port is selected. (I've had that problem
before, and it behaved just as you described)

Subject: Hotsync not connecting
I ran into a problem with getting my palm pilot to sync with my computer. I
tried it in my 2nd OS (dual boot) and I still have the problem, so I ruled
out any software problem causing this fault.
When I press the hotsync button on the cradle, the Palm starts to sync, but
the animation doesn't indicate that any communcation is happening. (no does
the syncing dialog pop up on the computer) Then I get the message on the
Palm saying a connection couldn't be established.
Last night I did a hard reset, and it still didn't fix the problem.
The last time I did a hotsync before this was over a month ago, and I'm at a
loss as to what could be the problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
