Once when this happened to me, I cleaned the connector of the cradle and the
Palm (V in my case) and after that the problem went away. Maybe this could
be your case too.

Yeah, I thought of that too, but unfortunately I know that COM 1 is the only
one set up for my serial port. If I even try the others, it says it can't
detect anything but COM 1.
