Danny, thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think my message had fallen
off the edge of the Earth or something.
This is an interesting bug. It was first pointed out to me by a user of my
application, in which the thing being scrolled is a table with a fairly
heavy redraw time, so for a long time I thought that the redraw delay was at
the root of the problem. Then I few days ago I found that previous thread on
this group that said the same behavior could be seen in the MemoPad. I tried
it and sure enough, it's pretty easy to hit the bug. Kind of surprising that
with the millions of Palm users, no one has reported this problem in the
built-in apps.
The bug definitely exists in older ROMs. I have a Palm Pro (OS 2.0), a Palm
III, a Palm V, and a Palm IIIc, and I can easily see the bug in the MemoPad
on all of them. It must be some sort of timing problem, or maybe a glitch in
the screen-reading, because I've never been able to hit it using Poser
either.
Anyway, I'm happy it's finally an official bug. Too bad it wasn't brought to
light before 4.0...
