Well, I don't know what it could be ... I didn't add anything new
yesterday.
I already have RsrcEdit on board if you can explain to me
how that can help.
Z'Catalog, and most programs that create a list of databases
(including the native applications launcher) bomb w/ the same
error. I had the OS2Launch program (which does not bomb)
and mapped it to the calc key, so I can launch any program that
I already have.
Interestingly, DBExplorer does not bomb right away ... it seems
to create it's list of files page by page instead of all at once. It
does bomb once it gets to a certain point in the file list though.
I really wish that the PalmOS did not take it upon itself to reset
every time it thinks a problem has occurred and instead return
error codes to the program so that it could make an intelligent
decision on how to properly handle the problem.
It might be possible to make a "memory cleaner" that could
find and remove the offending database if the PalmOS didn't
arbitrarily reset when the calling program accessed the handle.
As it is, though, I think I might be stuck and have to resign myself
to the loss of the data entered since yesterday morning (my
last backup).
Last call for suggestions??

Problem is you've installed an app that is not responding
properly to notifications sent to it, that's why you can
use your Palm when you do a no-notify reset, and why when
trying to HotSync you get the error: at the beginning of
the HotSync there's a HotSync-Start notification.
And it seems that you cannot beam-receive an app such as
Beamware or RsrcEdit that could help you reset things...
but that's what I would try, beam exchange instead of Hot-
Sync.
