I agree completely - it is a hugh job to develop and support an app for
these disjoint platforms.
We too thought up front that we would support all of these platforms and
figured that Codewarrior, which appears to support all of platforms we were
interested in would be great. We did not figure on the APIs being
completely different (not even close). Palm OS even has it's own set of C
"standard" functions (strcopy, etc).
What did we do? We found in some trade analysis publications that Palm OS
is over 87% of the PDA sales in 2000, up from 83% in 1999. And that the
competitors are at best in the 2% to 3% of the market share. We decided
that we are not interested in these tiny markets and put our focus into Palm
OS (and, due to testing and other corporate reasoning, windows 9x platform)
