Get Palm to fix it. I was told this was on the list of items to fix for OS 3.3, then OS 3.5 then OS 4.0 (well you get the idea, guess its not a high priority bug)
I've added a '-/+' button next to the field in the past to allow negative number entry. The bug only prevents Graffiti or keyboard input of the negative sign, not from your app adding it.
