Ok, thanks dor the info guys. Basically what I want to achieve is this:
I have a PDA with a GPS antenna (Garmin iQue 3600). There is
some firmware software that runs when you have the gps antenna extended.
This is some basic navigational maps and voice stuff. However, people
have developed programs that run in the background while this firmware
is running. An example is of a "speed" program that monitors your speed
and plays some alarms when you go over certain speeds (all this happens
while the mapping firmware software is running). I want to do something
similar, but I want to monitor other GPS information and play sounds too
for now.
