ok tyhanks, now i do have thos and they are installed, but to my g drive. i have the GNU compiler (windows version) installed. and I am running windows 98 SE, but as i say when i have my main.cpp ( no errors in syntax its the example and i have looked at it thourly as many examples do contain errors, and it does not) and the makefile created i try to build or rebuild project and no exe file is created. I have all the tools mentioned at that site installed. I have tried many things and have searched on the net, upgraded my installation with the installation and upgrade prospective, i have changed from ELF parser to the other parser in (binary) parser, someone somewhere mentioned that that was important, in the install and upgrade thing i see that cygnwin (where g++ resides) is installed, but when i say build, run, or debug... only "make all clean" appears and nothing else, perhaps i need to path or classpath in my autoexec.bat? i have found *.h files in lots of places, so i knwo that i should be able to get a compile happening. i am useing c++ prject not mangled etc, oh i might mention i have also reinstalled my windows and upgraded thinking that mabey somthing was up with that. perhaps something in the registry? i think i am useing the latest beta version that you mention... truthfully i am quite embarrased at not being able to get the first step done, i have been proggramming (self taught) 22 years, with a mouse signature password routine (simaler to graffitti) in a security program, and a submarine simulator just to mention a couple of my projects.can write in java (win98 no go for j2me :( ) so it is probibly something really stupid and i am messing up bad somehow. sorry long letter hehe. thanks for reply and suggestions. ron ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Combee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Palm Developer Forum" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, July 24, 2004 8:24 AM Subject: re: the first step
