Debugging Heaps on Tungsten E

I'm using PalmOS Debugger v4.3 from SDK5 R3. (I don't see a newer one in 
SDK5 R4.)

I can connect to my Tungsten E using SHORTCUT.2, list the heaps, etc.
However, when I try to debug any heaps using a command like "hchk 0000" 
I get an error like this:

  #ERROR: Invalid flags in heap header
  #ERROR: Invalid Handle field
  ### Error $FFFFFFFF occurred
What am I doing wrong? Please help, thanks!
