The Palm SDIO Bluetooth card is implemented in two parts; an SDIO->serial controller internally wired to the Bluetooth chipset with tx/rx/rts/cts. If you want to part with your Bluetooth card, you could open it up and patch into the serial port. If you're careful, you wouldn't necessarily break the Bluetooth functionality, but it's pretty tight on the pc card.
