The Treo I am using was just received from Sprint a couple of weeks ago and has "Treo650-1.12a-SPNT" software installed.
The Zire 72 has "Serial Ver 1.0", "SerialLib Ver 4.5", "System Ver 5.2.8", IrComm Serial Driver Ver 4.0" (I am not using IrComm), "IRDA Library Ver 5.0" I get identical results from both devices. I have not updated the eeprom as I have heard horror stories with the new version and raw IR.
