Thanks Don,

Luckily I'm beyond that, I've been supporting our app now for about six months and can work somewhat with the CW compiler but just follow what is there. As I stated somewhere else, we have tried for several months to get help from both Metrowerks (no longer in existence) and Palm to no avail. All we wanted to know was where to get some trainer led classes. I asked palm back in May and just got an aswer about two weeks ago and it was another question at that. Palm does not answer phone calls or emails for that matter. all I got was join the forums. I know the forums are a great help, but like somebody else stated, nobody is getting paid so the answers come when somebody has time or finds the questions either smart, intelligent or interesting. well some of us don't have the time to be smart, intelligent or interesting. all we have is a big problem that some real training would solve. that's my beef. it's a real shame because the Palm platform itself is such a beautiful platform.

I could go on for hours.... but...

Thanks, this actually is being very cathartic

I will continue to read and post and hopefully get some pose some intelligent questions that people don't find offensive beause they're lacking or up to their standards.

Thank Pinus for you frank and obvious answer.
Unfortunately some of us need some training where we can play with sample code and the tons of reference documenation found in the PODS does not help some body like me who is in a hurry to be productive and don't have the hugh amount of time trying to read and re-read the reference documentation to make some sense of it. where as in a training environment one gets to the subject quickly whithout having to beg anybody for help and having to be told to do the work yourself before you can ask the question.

I hear what you are saying and understand it very well because when
I first decided to learn about Palm programming, I encountered many
of the same obstacles you describe. My solution was to get a book.
I went to my local bookseller and found 2 or 3 titles. I settled
on one called Palm OS Programming by Rhodes and McKeehan because it
was published by O'Reilly and their books are almost always useful.

I got instructions on how to set up the development environment and
some sample code that made understanding the basic structure of a
Palm program easy. Yes, it did take some time. A few hours to set
up the development environment and then a few hours more to work
through some of the examples. After that I was able to use the book
as a reference when I needed to go beyond the basics.

By the way, after reading the documentation, I still don't know what's the difference between the Pilrc and the constructor. also reading the documentation several times I still don't know how to create hi res graphics which was the original question. Next time if you dont want to answer, skip the message and stop with the sermon. I wouldn't have asked the question if I had found the answer in the doucumentation.

    Carlos,

I believe people will be more willing to answer your questons if you
show more evidence of trying to find solutiond yourself.

    1) Read the PalmOS documentation.
    2) Use the forum search facilities.

what is a high res bitmap family and how do you create, get,
        steal or
         otherwise find one.
in my system I use CW 9.5 and when I try to use the pilrc all I
        get is a BIG
blue keyboard labeled Alphasmart and I'm not able to do
        anything with it, I
just find pilrc totally useless or maybe I just don't know how
        to use it and
since CW has gone the way of the dynasour, there is nobody to ask.
         so again what's the difference.
         thanks
