Everything I need I learned in Kindergarten--no--wait--that line has
been taken. How about, everything I know I learn from Google. I
Googled on Iowa Class, and on 16 inch guns, and found lots of
fascinating stuff.

They were originally designed to be fast enough to keep up with and
protect the flat tops. But nothing stays the same. See Frank's note
attached.

I also know from recent history, that some folks learned that the day
of massively expensive huge ships ended at the Falklands war when it
dawned on folks that a piddly little million dollar missile could do
in a ship costing hundreds of millions--with pretty much no danger to
the launcher. Not that old school Navy types would ever admit it!
