Denise, What kinds of paper have you tried, what is your pen/are your pens, and what ink/inks are you using? I have a ream of Howard Linen paper I'm working my way through, bought from Kelly Paper: http://kellypaper.com/ My usual Wausau card stocks also work pretty well, and I've printed some custom correspondence and note cards from them, and even went to the extent of folding my own matching envelopes. :-) Truly, though, the ink you use is as important as the paper, along with the type and condition of your pen's nib; it may just need some tuning if it's scratchy. I have several inexpensive pens - all my pens are inexpensive ones - that are excellent, smooth writers on most papers as long as I use a good ink. My preferred ink is Noodler's Bulletproof Black, but I also like Pilot blue and Lamy black. The Noodler's Black has been good on everything I've tried it on; it's *very* wet, dries in about twelve seconds, and is impossible to remove even chemically from the paper because it reacts with cellulose. That means, though, that any that gets onto natural-fiber clothing is there to stay! Oh, and humidity is a major factor as well. :-/ There are still some stationers around, though none in my town. If you can find a store anywhere near you that actually sells fountain pens and has staff members who actually use them, they should have suitable paper. A lot of people on the Fountain Pen Network recommend an eco-friendly bagasse paper from Staples I haven't tried yet, and many think highly of Rhodia pads and notebooks.
