About the only justifications for a remake is either far newer FX tech
exists to improve the realism of the original or to bring the original
closer to the story either because the original had a limited FX budget
and primitive tech or there was a censorship issue (like the end of the
story on which "The Day The Earth Stood Still" was based was felt to be
to disturbing for audiences of the time)
Otherwise it is usually better to leave the original alone.
