Hi Heather--

In some ways butt joints are easier to assemble than overlapping ones.
Provided things fit properly, when you put the second piece in
position you just push until it is snuggled up to the first part. Hold
it a few seconds until the glue grabs.

If your model is designed with overlapping joints, you can easily
change it to butt joints by cutting off the tabs. See my site at
http://2oldkiters.smugmug.com/ for a min-tutorial on how to make you
own glue strips.

One little touch I have found helpful--after the joint has dried, lay
the part on the smooth desk surface and massage the inside of the glue
strip with something smooth and rounded. Don't slip off the glue
strip--it will show.
