Thanks, Mike:

Well, I tried to use both WinRAR and zip7 to decompress the downloaded zip
files, but each one gives me an error message on the way to having ARx open
the pdf files; with WinRAR, I get the error message as it is decompressing
the file, with zip7 it tells me the archive is corrupt, and although a pdf
file is produced ARx cannot open it.

Trader Sam was very patient and uploaded the files just to be sure it was
not his files causing the problem, so it has to be something with how my
computer downloads the files...I noticed that, unlike other downloads where
my computer tells me the progress of the download, in each instance I don't
get that little progress bar as I downloaded the files, so I suspect I am
not getting the complete file for some strange reason.

Not sure this answers or helps, but let me know if you have any thoughts
before I re-install the pdf reader and contemplate another way to download
the files. BTW, I tried other downloads from the site and encountered the
same problem, so it's not just with the TOT files, apparently.

Cheers!
Jim

Trader Sam was good enough to spend a bit of time back and forth with me on
this issue, and given you all have had no such problems it is obviously
something wrong on my end.

consider what pdmmcool said about ARx being a possible source of the
problem, but I note Bob Lutz using ARx had no similar problem….curious….

Jim,

Just to be clear, is it Reader or 7Zip that throws the error? If it's
Reader, then there's likely no problem with your downloads, but wth
Reader itself (probably what Paul said as well). You can try
uninstalling and re-installing Reader, or perhaps go for one of the
(smaller, faster) alternative readers and see if that solves the
problem.
